Timing and Frequency of Form B Audits
To enable the Managing Committee to fulfill its obligation under the Maharashtra Fire Act 2007.
The safety of Residents’ lives and property is paramount to the Managing Committee.
To enable the Managing Committee to fulfill its obligation towards this essential requirement, the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006, has made it mandatory to conduct a Fire Audit on all Housing Society Premises [more than 15 meters high (approx. 5 Floors)].
Below is the relevant clause from the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act, 2006.
Clause 3 (3) of Chapter II:
“The owner or occupier, as the case may be, shall furnish to the Chief Fire Officer or the nominated officer a certificate in the prescribed form issued by a Licensed Agency regarding the compliance of the fire prevention and life safety measures in his such building or part thereof, as required by or under the provisions of this Act, and shall also furnish to the Chief Fire Officer or a nominated officer, a certificate in the prescribed form, twice a year in January and July regarding the maintenance of fire prevention and life safety measures in good repair and efficient condition”
As July is just around the corner, we recommend all CHS make arrangements to adhere to the above requirements in the interest of Resident Safety and avoid any penal actions against the Managing Committee members.
